The 2013 ECAR Study of Undergraduate Students and Information Technology polled more than 113,000 undergraduates in the USA and elsewhere.  They found that 70% of registered students have used OER in the past year while 10% use them “all the time”.  This suggests that many students are using OER to complement the materials they use for formal study.
