Overseas students use OER to gage the quality of an institution’s teaching

As part of her research on how overseas students engage with learning materials in iTunes U, Terese Bird reports that the third most quoted reason why learners use resources publicly available on this platform isĀ “to establish quality of an institution’s teaching”. When asked whether they would consider studying at a particular institution as a result of their experience with that institution’s materials in iTunes U, 60.9% of surveyed students gave a positive answer.

A Chinese postgraduate, recently arrived in the UK says:

Knowing about the course and listening to lectures would help me to decide which university to attend.
