Texas policy allows OER inclusion on list of official teaching materials (H.B. 2488, 2009)

In 2009, the Texas legislature adopted policy giving authority to the Commissioner of Education to include open educational resources (OER) and other digital resources on the official list of approved instructional materials (Relating to Open-Source Textbooks and Other Instructional Materials, H.B. 2488, 2009).
